New Zealand
The AI quoting app for Kiwi tradies
Describe the job and Sammy writes the quote in NZ dollars, with 15% GST, your GST number and New Zealand terms. Then he helps you win it, run it and get paid.
Sammy works for New Zealand businesses as well as Australian ones. Set your country to New Zealand and he quotes to the New Zealand Building Code, prices from New Zealand suppliers and writes in New Zealand English. Your own rates and supplier prices still come first.

What Sammy knows about New Zealand
- The rules you build to. He works to the New Zealand Building Code and standards like NZS 3604, and talks about building consents and Licensed Building Practitioners.
- Where you buy. He knows New Zealand suppliers like PlaceMakers, Mitre 10, Bunnings, ITM and Carters.
- How you talk. He writes in New Zealand English and won’t mention Australian rules or states.
- Your prices first. Your rate rules, supplier price lists and instructions come before anything he knows. See how Sammy gets pricing.
Your quotes and invoices
- GST at 15%. Every new quote and invoice charges 15%, shown as GST (15%) on the quote, the proposal and the invoice. Not registered for GST? Mark the quote GST exempt.
- Your GST number. Put your GST number (your IRD number) where an Australian business puts its ABN, and it prints on your quotes, proposals and invoices. A client’s details take a GST number or NZBN.
- New Zealand terms. If you haven’t written your own, your quotes say nothing limits your client’s rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986, and your invoices say a progress claim is a payment claim under the Construction Contracts Act 2002. They’re a starting point, not legal advice.
- New Zealand addresses and numbers. Address search shows New Zealand addresses, and phone numbers are read as +64.
- Xero. Sammy picks your New Zealand tax codes: 15% GST on Income, and No GST for GST-exempt quotes and invoices. See Xero.
Setting up in New Zealand
- Sign up. If your phone or computer is on New Zealand time, New Zealand is already picked on the sign-up form. If it isn’t, pick it yourself.
- Already using Sammy? Go to Settings, then Business, change Country to New Zealand and tap Save. In a team, the owner sets the country for everyone in Team settings.
- Add your GST number in Settings, then Business.
- Put in your bank account. Sammy’s example payment details show an Australian BSB. Replace it with your full account number, like 12-3456-7890123-00, under Settings, then Terms.

Questions Kiwi tradies ask
What happens to quotes I made before I switched to New Zealand?
They keep the GST they were made with, and so do invoices made from them. To charge 15% on an old job, start a new quote.
I saved my own terms before switching. Will Sammy change them?
No. Sammy leaves your own terms alone, so read them through and swap any Australian wording. Or reset them to the New Zealand terms under Settings, then Terms.
Does Sammy do progress claims?
Yes. Set a payment schedule on the quote and claim each stage as its own invoice. See progress claims.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. Sammy is on the App Store, Google Play and the web.
